Rose Willcocks is a very special five year old girl.
Born with a genetic abnormaility which means that she has never been able to talk, a visit to a farm in early 2007 saw her talk for the first time - to the animals.
Now Rose's parents, who have dubbed her 'Miss Doolittle' because of her interaction on the farm, hope Rose can take one step further and talk to them for the first time.
As far as is known, Rose is the only person in the world to suffer from this genetic abnormality. Rose cries, she laughs but she has never been able to say 'Mummy', 'Daddy' or 'I love you'.
Following on from her success with the animals, Rose's parents now hope to take her to a specialist learning centre in America which they hope will one day allow their daughter be able to speak to other people for the first time.
The Rose Willcocks Appeal was set-up to help raise the money necessary for Rose's specialist treatment. If you can help, even in a small way, you will have helped a young lady get a little closer to unlocking her voice a little more.
Doctors think that if a child does not speak by the age of seven, they will never speak. By raising £15,000 for her first trip to the centre, and putting any further money raised towards additional treatment, Rose's parents hope to give her the very best chance of saying 'I love you' for the first time.
After Rose's trip to America, the Bishop's Stortford Observer catches up with her progress.
